If you are looking to tick “eating at Heston Blumenthal restaurant” off your things to do list, make sure your holiday plans include flying from Heathrow’s new Terminal 2. This is where his “The Perfectionists’ Cafe” is stationed. Contratti was delighted to be chosen as Heston’s restaurant furniture manufacturer for his new project. We teamed up with leading leisure and hospitality designers Afroditi Krassa to bring Heston’s vision to life.
The décor is meant to remind passengers of flights from the 1950’s and 1960’s, when air travel was glamorous and exciting. In keeping with this aviation theme, Contratti installed propeller-shaped restaurant furniture and seating with formica-lined joinery and beautiful ocean-coloured upholstery. Two of the banquette seating booths actually face away from the main interior of the restaurant so diners can watch the planes take off and land. Every aspect of venue design and passenger comfort has been taken into consideration.
Heston describes his new restaurant as a more casual affair which will cater for people who are fed up with junk food and want exquisite food quickly. The menu boasts traditional fish n’ chips, pizzas cooked in wood burning ovens, and of course there is Heston’s world-famous liquid nitrogen ice cream. Contratti are proud to say that our restaurant furniture and seating is every bit as sumptuous as the menu.
